2016 was a great year for new friendships!
Utah Lehi Stake's ward boundaries were redrawn and a new ward was created within the old 5th Ward area, resulting in many new friendships.

Following are a few auxiliaries' summation for the year:
High Priests

For 2016, the High Priest Quorum had several events and successes worthy of mention. Multiple Personal Priesthood Interview’s were conducted through the year. Several of the quorum brethren were gracious enough to allow us to get to know them as well as other components of their lives. We appreciate them sharing through mutual friendship and fellowship.
Social
Around mid-year we had a High Priest Social where all of the High Priests' and their families were invited for a nice dinner as well as some dancing in an evening full of cordiality and acquaintance.
Subbing
Gotta give a shout-out to all of those within the quorum who stepped up to the plate and substitute-taught when an assigned instructor was unable to teach on a given Sunday. These were most appreciated, so thank you!
Home Teaching
An average of 90 percent of the families assigned to the quorum to be home taught were visited during the year each month. This was a great achievement.
Serving
Among the most notable of accomplishments were dozens of visits (non-home-teaching) throughout the year to some of the less active individuals and families within our ward boundaries as well as to those who were ill, down with health problems, struggling with emotional issues or even testimonies in an attempt to let them know we care and to try and do what we could for those in need or to help bring back the spirit of Christ in their lives.
All in all, a rather successful 2016 for the High Priests.
Relief Society

As the members of the newly reorganized ward came together, they brought many various strengths and weakness. Together, we were able to help the new ward flourish.
Service
Early on, we had an opportunity to pull together for a common purpose that helped heal and strengthen us as a whole. A young family had several struggles happen within a couple weeks and we were able to provide meals and a fundraiser. In those few weeks they welcomed a new baby, lost a parent, and our dear sister had brain surgery and was in the hospital. It was uplifting to see the outpouring of love that the ward members showed to this young family.
Super Saturday
Two other opportunities that stuck out of our ward being unified as a whole was our Super Saturday and our Sub for Santa. Super Saturday was an opportunity to meet in a casual atmosphere that provided a chance for us to socialize, meet some less active members and even a member of a different ward, and use our hands as we did crafts. Many friendships were established and strengthened.
Sub for Santa
Sub for Santa was the final shining moment of the year that showed our ward was completely unified and healed. We had many families that were struggling and needed help providing Christmas for their family. The ward counsel set a goal that would fulfill this need and asked the ward to help by providing gift certificates in $10 increments or cash donations. As we were collecting all the donations on the chosen date we came to realize that not only had we fulfilled that goal as a ward but had far exceeded it. With the extra money we were able to help out the widows and shut-ins.
It was a true testimony of how we as members can come together and be that strength to those that are in need an encouraging arm and firm foundation of strength when they are struggling.
Young Women
This year for Young Women in Excellence we had the theme of "How can Personal Progress change the world?" The girls brought things that they had been working on in personal progress for the year.
Modesty Fashions Show
One of the girls favorite activities this year was a modesty fashions show. We talked about the importance of dressing modestly and a few girls shared their testimonies about the blessing they have received for dressing modestly. Then the girls made dresses out of tissue paper and walked the runway. It was a blast!
New Beginnings
For New Beginnings this year our theme was "Donut miss out on Personal Progress". The girls made all the decorations for the meeting. They also wrote down their goals for the coming year regarding personal progress. We had those displayed at the meeting.
Testimony
I had the opportunity and blessing to serve as Young Women's president in the 5th ward for 4 years. I was called in August of 2012 and released July of 2016. I'm so grateful for the relationships I was able to form with the girls and other leaders, for the fun times, the laughs, the tears, the long hours of preparation and the opportunity I was given to grow.
Here a couple highlights from 2016:
Girls Camp
Camp is always a great experience. This year we had stake camp and they did an awesome job making it a fun and spiritual week. We had great ward camp leaders: Debbie Christiansen, Kira Stott, Janine Hunt, Kassie Hunsaker, Raegan Phelps, Abby Garner and Rachel Belnap.
Some of the highlights of the week were the zip line and ropes course (of course!), singing trees, the lip sync competition (we did "Colors of the Wind" from Pocahontas), the faith walk, our ward slip and slide which turned into a water fight, Ben and Lori Lowe coming up to speak (and Ben singing with helium to Lori), bishopric night, late night talks around the campfire, testimony meeting. I LOVE girl's camp!!
Ward Youth Conference -
This year our youth decided to go to Bear Lake for youth conference. They chose to focus on three parts of the 2016 mutual theme/scripture in 2 Ne 31:20 -- Love of God and all Man, Feasting, and Endure to the End -- and then planned activities to go along with the theme. We started out by going to the temple the night before we left to do baptisms for the dead. Then on the way up we stopped at Bloomington Lake and most of the youth and leaders tried out the rope swing and cliff jumping. We then drove to Bear Lake and camped within walking distance to the beach.
Some of the lake activities we enjoyed were paddle boarding, tubes, a water trampoline, and burying Kyler Mowrey in the sand to try to catch a seagull. We went and got Bear Lake's famous raspberry shakes a couple times. "What are the odds" was played ALL weekend, along with games of Frisbee and football. The youth all got along great and each quorum or class took a turn preparing and cleaning up a meal.
The last night, Bishop Robb Garner shared a great message as we sat around the campfire, and a few youth and leaders then shared their testimonies. The last day after packing up, we stopped at Paris Ice Caves and the youth had the opportunity to rappel down into the cave. We have great youth and leaders!
